Ingredients
  • 4 ounces cream cheese softened to room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon butter softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp your choice of extract or candy flavoring 1 to 2 tsp, mint or strawberry
  • Pink and red gel food coloring
Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, add cream cheese, butter, mint or strawberry extract and powdered sugar
  2. Use an electric hand or stand mixer to blend for 3-4 minutes. It will be very crumbly.
  3. Put away the mixture and continue mixing by hand, kneading the mixture and forming it into a round ball.
  4. Using a sharp knife, cut the ball into 3 equal parts. Place each portion into a small mixing bowl
  5. Add one color of food coloring to each bowl, except for one which will remain white.
  6. Add 3-4 dots of food coloring gel to each.
  7. Fold in the food coloring, mixing by hand or with a fork. Mix until the color is solid and fully blended.
  8. Using a rolling pin roll out each ball of candy to about ¼-½ inch thick.
  9. Use a fork to drag lines down the rolled out dough.
  10. Then use a tiny heart cookie cutter to cut out your shapes and set on a parchment lined tray.
  11. Let candies stand, uncovered, at room temperature for 1 day.
  12. Store in an airtight container.
