All of this was accomplished with very little oil or fat.

Turkey burger ingredients
These burgers couldn’t be simpler with only four ingredients. Feel free to add more spices to your turkey burgers to customize the flavor. In your local food shop, look for ground turkey near the ground beef.
- Ground turkey can be substituted for ground chicken.
- Garlic: finely minced to blend well with the burgers.
- As desired, season with salt and pepper.
- Worcestershire Sauce: Gives the burgers a wonderful umami flavor.
Fresh ground turkey will be easier to form than frozen ground turkey in your burgers. Air frying them will result in a crispy surface and a tender juicy within.
- Mix: Combine the turkey, garlic, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce in a medium mixing bowl.
- Form into four patties, each 12 inches thick, because they will shrink.
- Fry- Place two patties in the basket and cook for 7 minutes at 360 degrees. Cook for another 5 minutes, or until the patties are thoroughly cooked. Internal temperature should be at least 165°F.
Tips for a good turkey burger
There isn’t much that can go wrong with turkey burgers, but there are a few things to keep in mind to ensure you have delicious burgers.
- Checking for Doneness: Keep in mind that my times are only suggestions, not absolutes. Check your air fryer’s user handbook for the ideal cooking times and adjust as needed. Temperature, not time, should be used to determine doneness. My burgers could have been thicker or thinner, smaller or larger. Always check the temperature of your burgers before removing them. When turkey burgers reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit, they are done.
- Sticky: Sometimes your ground turkey is sticky and difficult to form or shape. If this occurs, use parchment paper to help shape them. You can also firm up the meat by refrigerating or freezing it for a few minutes.
- To protect the burgers from shrinking too much, make a divot in the center with your thumb.
- Turkey: You may use any type of ground turkey for these burgers.
Another advantage of turkey burgers is their ease of customization. And, like any burger, you can make a large batch and freeze it for quick dinners on a busy night.
- Add-Ons Turkey burgers are perfect for sneaking in vegetables. Finely sliced mushrooms, peppers, onions, or shredded zucchini all add flavor and moisture to the turkey.
- Seasonings: The simple components like garlic and Worcestershire sauce bring a lot of flavor to these burgers. However, the options for other seasonings are limitless. BBQ seasonings, taco seasonings, ranch seasonings, Greek spices, and even Italian spices would be delicious.
- Toppings: Once again, the options for topping these turkey burgers are limitless. Tomatoes, lettuce, bacon, BBQ sauce, avocado, sprouts, and whatever else strikes your fancy on this particular day!
- Don’t forget about the cheese! Favorite cheeses include Swiss, cheddar, pepper jack, feta, blue cheese, and Monterey Jack.
Make a double or triple batch of these air fryer turkey burgers to freeze and then thaw when needed.
- Place the turkey burgers on a cookie sheet coated with wax paper or parchment paper.
- Cover loosely with plastic wrap and place in the freezer for 1-2 hours, or until firm but not solid.
- Stack the burgers in a freezer-safe ziplock bag after using parchment paper to divide the patties. Store in the freezer for up to 3 months.
- You can cook the burgers in the air fryer from frozen, adding 3-5 minutes to the cooking time. Alternatively, defrost in the refrigerator overnight.
Avoid overmixing the burger ingredients. Everything should be mixed, but overworking might result in brittle and chewy burgers.
Spray the air fryer basket with oil to prevent the burgers from sticking. Alternatively, before placing the burgers in the basket, massage oil over them with your hands.
These simple burgers are great, but for a different flavor, try adding dried herbs or spices like paprika or Italian seasoning.
I used sliced sharp cheddar and sliced sharp white cheddar, but you may use whichever cheese you choose (or leave it off).
And with that. You have your best air-fried turkey burgers which are delicious and juicy.
