How to Cook a Perfect Steak on a Grill

July 14, 2022 By Yummiest Food Leave a Comment

Enjoying a grilled steak for dinner can be very fantastic. To make this moment more memorable, you need to grill the steak like a pro ensuring no mistake is made. However, cooking an excellent steak can be very challenging if you don’t know the steps to take. However, if you have no idea what to do, don’t worry and keep reading. It’s also vital to know how to tell if steak is bad since a bad steak can ruin your whole meal. By any means, you should be keen since you can tell what kind of steak you have by just looking. This article will explore how to cook a perfect steak on a grill.

  • Buying the Steak

To start with, you need to buy the steak to grill. This step is crucial as it might determine your end product and how you grill it. You might consider choosing the flanks steak or the T-bone; all this might require different times on the grill. A thicker steak might take longer to cook than a thin one. Always take your time to know the type of steak you want, then purchase it.

  • Preparing the Steak

Preparing your steak before placing it on the grill is a crucial step to take. After purchasing the steak, put it a room temperature for at least half an hour. This helps your meat to cook evenly. You should also dry your meat using a paper towel to remove the water and then season with salt and pepper on both sides. Another way is marinating your stake and adding the seasoning of your choice.

  • The Grilling Part

Ensure your grill has enough fire at the right temperature. Depending on the type of grill you choose, always preheat it. Place your steak and rotate it often to ensure it heats evenly and gets a good crust. The crust ensures that your steak does not lose water, which will be vital in ensuring it cooks. You should also have a meat thermometer to help you manage the temperature and to avoid over or undercooking. To use the thermometer, insert it on the thickest part of the streak and check the reading. Avoid placing your thermometer on the bone or fat for accurate temperature measurement.

Grill Temperatures

  • If your steak temperature reads 125 degrees to 130, it will be very red or pink.
  • If the temperature reads from 130 to 145, your steak will be slightly pink.
  • When the temperature ranges from 145 to 150, the meat should be mostly brown and medium cooked.
  • If its all brown and has a temperature of 155 and above, it is well cooked
  • Give Your Steak Time to Rest

After taking your steak out of the grill, give it time to rest, ensuring the juice stays within the meat. Alternatively, consider covering your steak for at least five minutes to ensure the evenly distributed season.

Bottom Line!

Your steak is now ready to be served. Ensure you follow the above procedure to get a juicy steak for your dinner or another purpose you intend. You can serve your steak with potato salad, grilled vegetables, or wedge salad. Enjoy your meal!
