What Are Cream Cheese Candies?
Cream cheese candies are soft, fondant-style sweets made with cream cheese, powdered sugar, and flavoring. They’re often shaped into small patties or molded candies and lightly dried for a smooth finish. These candies are a popular old-fashioned treat, especially for holidays like Valentine’s Day and weddings.
Variation Ideas for Old-Fashioned Cream Cheese Mints
Try different flavors like vanilla, lemon, raspberry, or almond extract.
Easter: Shape them into round or oval “eggs” using vanilla or banana flavor. Use pastel pink, purple, blue, and yellow.
Christmas: Classic red, green, and white are perfect with peppermint flavor. Tiny trees or ornaments are easy to shape — and so cute.
Baby Shower: Try almond or maple extract. For a gender reveal, make pink and blue cream cheese candies.
Halloween: Dark purple, black, orange, and green work great. Make pumpkins, cauldrons, or small discs. Any flavor works well, but lemon or strawberry adds a fun fruity twist.
Recipe Tips
Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps. Add powdered sugar gradually to control the dough consistency. If the mixture feels sticky, chill it briefly before shaping.
Storage
Store cream cheese patties in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. They can also be frozen for up to three months and thawed at room temperature before serving. Did you make these Valentine’s Day Cream Cheese Patties?
