Make Your Space More Inviting with Booth & Banquette Seating

August 31, 2021 By Yummiest Food Leave a Comment

A smart arrangement will result in your banquette being a comfortable place for people to come together to eat and to do other fun family activities. Learn how to make your space more inviting with an elegant banquette seating plan, using the following tips.

Due to seats needing to slide in and out, a set of chairs and a table are not always the best way to furnish a casual eating space. If a dining area is costly to develop, think about a banquette instead. Banquette-style seating takes up less floor space compared to a basic table and chairs that have same number of people.

Booth seating is attractive in homes for pretty much the same reasons individuals would rather sit in a banquette seating in restaurants. They offer better privacy, favorable moments for camaraderie and intimacy, compared to tables and chairs that stand alone.

Besides the basic booth set up in restaurants, other banquette design choices are L shapes, U shapes, hybrids, and semicircles that converge bench chairs and seats.

Even though seats that are boxed-shaped work well in recess areas, you’re able to develop a banquette flush pushed towards the wall as well.

Key measurements for designing a banquette

When designing a banquette seating arrangement, the basic height for a table is 30 inches with a bench that is 18inches tall. These measurements leave 12 inches from the rear of the bench to the top of the table. Allow the table to cover the benches by 3 or 4 inches on both sides. To get additional legroom, position the benches back using a few inches and include a “heel kick” on the floor just below the table surface.

Another consideration to factor in when designing booth seating is the number of individuals that need to be seated in a single seating. Give an allowance of at least 21 inches of table and seating width per individual. You must give an allowance of 18 inches of seating depth without including the back support in your calculation.

For example, U-shaped banquettes, give an allowance of at least 54 inches for legroom. In general U shapes require generous dimensions to prevent corners that squeeze the knee.

Designing a banquette? Tips to follow

Another straightforward way to prevent knees from knocking each other is to pair banquette-style seating with a pedestal table. This arrangement makes it easier to get in and out of the bench by removing table legs from the equation and leaving enough space open below. In addition, a pedestal table with a round shape provides flexibility to bring in an additional chair or three.

Final words

Besides breakfast nooks and eat-in kitchen, booth seating styles also work just fine in a formal eating area like a dining room. If for instance, you’re looking to create a relaxed ambiance informal area used for eating. Think about creating an informal banquette style into your design. This seating option is comfortable more especially if you use your dining room for various purposes, like as an office space, for game nights, or as a kiddies homework area. Banquette seating styles provide versatility in seating and are a good choice for small dining rooms.

Choosing to make your space more inviting with the use of booth and banquette seating is surely a wonderful consideration, given the versatility and convenience, it brings to your lived-in environment.
