There are a huge number of varieties of cannabis – it can seem difficult to understand them. In fact, it is enough to remember which categories overlap and which do not, and why – then you will see that any seed (from a conscientious supplier) has a certain place on the “shelf” of the world cannatheca.
So, for starters: any variety contains indica and sativa genetics (usually something prevails). However, it can be feminized or regular, and feminized or regular cannabis can be autoflowering or photoperiod. In order not to say so long – “photoperiodic feminized”, for example, they use abbreviations like Lemon Kush photo fem or Auto Gagarin autofem, Afghan Kush photoregular. Also do not forget about autoflower seeds, which have a high quality. You can buy such seed at our official store Fast Buds!
Indica, Sativa or Hybrid Cannabis Seeds – Differences, Features
Depending on the region of growth, cannabis is divided into indica and sativa, which affects many structural features, the duration of maturation and the effect it has.
Indica. Short flowering cycle, resistance to cool climates. Plants of varieties such as Divine Indica , Mazar , Kabul , Afghan Original have a lush and squat bush structure with a maximum growth of 1.5-2 m. The inflorescences are dense and compact, richly covered with trichomes, giving the cola a frosty appearance. The leaves are wide, dark green in color. The smell contains earthy coniferous notes.
Sedative effect (stone):
- soothes;
- relaxes;
- sleepy;
- anesthetizes;
- enhances sensory sensations;
- causes a strong appetite.
Genetics originates in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Lebanon, Tibet and Morocco, South India and Central Asia.
Sativa. Plants of sativa varieties – Jamaica Sativa , Kali Mist , Pablo Escobar – are tall and slender, with a branched structure, and in favorable conditions grow up to 4 m in height. The inflorescences are voluminous and oblong, they do not differ in particular density, therefore, when dried, they lose most of the mass.
The foliage has a light green color and a narrow, elongated shape. Sativa produces a swedish floral or fruity scent and has a longer flowering cycle than indica. Well adapted to warm, humid climates. Hence the main problem – it has time to ripen only in a tropical climate, because the flowering period can reach 100-120 days.
Such cannabis relieves fatigue and stimulates thinking, as well as motor skills, causing a high-effect:
- invigorates;
- gives strength;
- awakens creativity;
- improves mood.
In medical use, it helps to get rid of stress and chronic fatigue, treat ADHD and depression.
Homeland sativa varieties – Colombia, Indonesia, Jamaica, Mexico, Thailand and Nigeria.
hybrids. Breeding plays an important role in the development of the marijuana seed market, and hybrids that combine the virtues and characteristics of indica and sativa have always been especially fond of – a combination of two or three varieties, with technical stabilization, can produce a bizarre and exotic variety! In this list we will find both undersized bushes ( Euphoria ) and 4-meter trees ( Amnezia XL ), from sativa-dominant strains ( Tangie , Green Crack ) to unusual indica ( Gagarin , Pineapple Express , Opium , Candy , Auto Purple Opium ).
It should also be noted that 100% cannabis indica or sativa does not exist – there is always a small admixture of the opposite variety. On the showcase of our store in the phenotype of marijuana seeds, the percentage is indicated, or which species prevails: Gorilla Glue (75% Sativa, 25% Indica), LSD (Indica).
Autofem and photo fem – what’s the difference?
Auto Feminized and photo feminized cannabis varieties are autoflowers and photoperiods , which are also feminized (i.e. capable of producing only female offspring). There are very few non-feminized seeds in our assortment. Therefore, you should first of all understand what autoflowering and photoperiod are, and then take into account that all the varieties discussed are also feminized. Deal? 🙂
Autoflowering cannabis contains a fraction of the genetics of wild cannabis, which in temperate climates (early cold in autumn) “learned” to transition to flowering after a month of vegetative development. Such varieties ripen faster, especially Auto 77 Days , Auto Easy Ryder , Auto Ice Cool , Auto Afghan Bullet .
Photoperiodic varieties (fotiki, photo fem , photoperiods) are often descendants of landraces growing in warmer regions. Cannabis like Cinderella 99 , Chocolate Cookies , AK-47 XL x Purple finish their growing season and only start flowering when the daylight hours decrease – in other words, the plant is “waiting” for autumn. The plus of such varieties in breeding is more offspring, the minus is long maturation and the need for space.
If initially autoflowers were considered as a “demo version” of more tempting varieties, then later breeders achieved such skill that today there are autoflowering varieties that are not inferior to photoperiods either in concentration of active substances or in productivity (1 Black Opium Auto mother plant per seed production could bear fruit up to 1000 g!).
Feminized vs Regular
Feminized varieties (femki, photo fem) – seeds without male genetics, obtained by self-pollination of a female plant. If such a seed were germinated (we remind you, this is forbidden!), only a female could come out of it, therefore such seed is more valuable.
Regular seeds are mainly used by cannabis breeders when males are needed, as regular males and females come out about evenly.
95% of our products are feminized strains, the price is also higher due to the complexity of their stabilization. It is possible to achieve hermaphroditism from a female bush, make it pollinate its own female inflorescences and obtain feminized seeds in artisanal conditions; the problem is that from these seeds with a high degree of probability you will get … also hermaphrodites. And although the souvenir products in our assortment are not intended for sprouting, quality is a priority for WeedSeeds, so we supply only from trusted foreign manufacturers.
