Having a glass of milk a day has always been regarded as part of a healthy diet. The benefits are numerous; can the same be said of weed milk?
The fat and protein drink derived from cows is pretty natural, similar to cannabis grown in your garden. Yet, purchasing a dairy animal isn’t as easy as finding marijuana seeds for sale. They’re much easier to acquire.
Creating weed-infused milk from your homegrown marijuana is a great way to ensure your drink is wholesome. Making this flavored beverage is possible in a few simple steps.
Find out the effects of cannamilk and the various ways to use it.
The Story Behind Cannamilk
Combining marijuana and milk in its raw form won’t give you this infusion. It all starts with decarboxylating your weed. It’s a process that heats and cures the cannabis buds, making it easier to consume and releasing the cannabinoids and all their effects.
Decarboxylation occurs when you cook raw cannabis in the oven at 230℉ for approximately 35 mins. You’ll need to move the weed particles around regularly to ensure that you bake them evenly.
Your end product will be dry and light to medium brown. Once cooled, you can grind it in a coffee grinder, making it ready to be used in your cannabis milk or any other delicious edible.
You only need a quarter ounce of marijuana and two cups of milk to make this dairy infusion. Allow it to simmer for 30 to 45 minutes without boiling, stirring it occasionally.
The mixture will thicken slightly and become light green. Once the time has elapsed, strain it through cheesecloth and allow it to cool.
The benefit of using milk is that the fat content helps absorb the compounds in weed. If you’re lactose intolerant, any other milk with at least three grams of fat will also do.
The Effects
The strain of weed used in your cannamilk and the levels of THC and CBD will determine what effects you’ll experience.
Does weed milk get you high? The answer to this depends on THC, the cannabinoid responsible for the feeling of euphoria or what we know as being ‘high.’
CBD, like THC, is also psychoactive but doesn’t deliver the same effects. On the other hand, it’s said to alleviate symptoms associated with depression and anxiety.
Additionally, it’s believed that CBD provides other medical benefits such as relief from muscle spasms, chronic pain, and nausea associated with cancer treatment. When combined with THC, it offers much more.
CBD is said to reduce the psychotropic effects of THC, while THC enhances the impact of CBD. Cultivators are constantly creating new strains to help consumers discover a combination of these two compounds that best suits their needs.
The weed milk effects will vary from one person to another, with some having a distorted perspective of time and increased sensory perception. You’ll feel some impact within one to two hours after consumption and lasting up to six hours.
Start with small amounts if you’re unsure which strain of weed to use or what quantity. Assess the effects, gradually increase the dosage or change the cultivar until you’ve reached the desired result.
Various uses
Cooking with weed has become more popular among marijuana lovers. Cannabis lovers include it in various dishes. Weed milk is no exception and has a wide variety of uses.
Once you’ve infused your dairy drink, store it in the refrigerator in a covered container. You can then enjoy it in the same way you did before. Add it to your coffee, tea, or your favorite pastry dish. Here are a few suggestions:
- Substitute it with your usual milk in baked goods such as brownies, cupcakes, or muffins.
- Add it to a beverage such as hot chocolate, or have it warm with a dash of honey.
- Include it in a savory dish like mac ‘n cheese or your egg mixture when making an omelet.
- Have it over your cereal, or add it to a smoothie.
Weed infused milk has many advantages, as it’s so versatile, so why not try it. It’s an alternative for those who don’t want to smoke or need to consume their favorite herb discreetly.
