We all are familiar with this situation where we accidentally spill food on our favorite clothing, especially those light-colored ones. Sometimes, the soap or detergent is just not enough to get rid of these stubborn stains when these accidents happen. So, what to do in such situation? Here I have rounded up some techniques of my own to help you remove the stains and get your clothes cleaned.
Coffee Stains
Tell me, who doesn’t love a cup of dark and rick black coffee in the morning? But that same coffee can be a concern if you spill some on your office outfit. To remove the coffee stain, pour some club soda onto that stain. Then let the soda rest for a couple of minutes, and finish by rinsing with water. The coffee stain should be gone at this point.
Oil Stains
Oil stains might be less noticeable, but they are one of the hardest stains to remove. However, removing any oil or butter stain can be fairly easier if you know the right technique. First, start by sprinkling some talcum powder on both sides of the stained area and let the powder sit for around half an hour. After that, wipe off the powder, use detergent and hot water and rub the affected area. Keep rubbing until the stain is gone. Additionally, you can also click here for more DIY cleaning techniques.
Sauce Stains
We all love sauce on our pizza, spaghetti, or any other food; you name it. But this love can turn into disaster once you or your kid spill some on clothes. To remove these very common sauce stains, you’ll have to rinse the stain with cold water and remove any solid parts. Then, pour some white vinegar into the stained area. Before putting it into the laundry, again pour some detergent on the affected area. The laundry should do the rest of the job.
Red Wine Stains
It only takes a second of carelessness to spill the red wine on your favorite shirt on your date or at a party. However, don’t panic, as removing the stain is fairly easy. First, take a towel or tissue paper to softly dab that affected area to absorb as much liquid as possible. Don’t rub as that will only spread the affected area. Now, cover the affected area with a handful of salt or baking soda and pour hot water on the area slowly. Lastly, finish by washing the clothing in the hottest wash cycle.
Peanut Butter Stains
We all love peanut butter in our breakfast until we end up spilling some on our cloth. If you are a victim of this stubborn stain, there is no need to worry here. First, put that cloth into the freezer and freeze the peanut butter so it can’t spread. Then remove it carefully without spreading anymore and pour some rubbing alcohol on the affected area. The alcohol will break the oil inside the stain and simplify the stain removal. Finally, rub the stain with a standard soap bar until the stain goes away.
