How To Brew Your Own Iced Coffee And Enjoy It
The last thing you’ll ever think of doing whenever you’re sweaty and exhausted on a hot summer afternoon is to sip on a burning cup of cappuccino. I mean, who does that? Iced coffee is more refreshing, less acidic, sweeter, and less caffeinated than a hot one. But let’s be honest, most of the coffees we buy from the cafés do not meet up to expectations. For instance, some coffee drinkers at McDonalds’ often complain that their orders taste flat, weakly brewed, and devoid of any flavor other than bitter. Similarly, Starbucks coffees are reportedly tasting harshly bitter and often need to be doctored up with syrup. Are you one of these unhappy coffee buyers? Do you want to start brewing your coffee to your taste? Grab your coffee recipes and follow any of the guides down below to whip tasty iced coffee every time.
Method 1: Brewing Instant Iced Coffee
There are two ways to make a decadent cup of homemade, no-BS iced coffee. The first one I’m about to share here is the fastest and easiest. All you need is a cup of brewed coffee (an espresso), ice blocks, and (if you want) syrup. Here’s what to do with these ingredients to pull iced coffee together;
- Pour ice blocks into the cup you want to sip your coffee from.
- Pour about 50ml brewed coffee (espresso) over the ice cubes.
- Add your syrup, milk, and any special flavor (if you want).
- Stir and sip.
This method is easier with a shaker. So, if you have one, just add all your ingredients into a shaker, shake it, and serve. Below is another way to make iced coffee at home.
Method 2: Using Cooled-Down Filter Coffee
Here’s a more professional way to whip a super smooth iced coffee; use cooled-down filter coffee. To make a filter coffee and cool it down, you need a coffee grinder, weighing scale, kettle or measuring cup with a spout, coffee dripper, filter paper, 240grams of hot water, and 16grams of coffee beans. Once you have all that set, follow my lead;
- Position your coffee dripper on top of a cup and dress it with filter paper.
- Pour some hot water through the filter paper to rinse it.
- Grind 16grams of coffee bean in your coffee grinder.
- Add the grounded coffee to the filter paper in your dripper.
- Pour in 240 grams of hot water gently at the interval of 30 grams per 30 seconds.
- Once the liquid coffee filters into the cup completely, allow it to cool to room temperature.
Now that you have a cooled-down filter coffee, the next step is to convert it into an iced one. Here’s how to;
- Get a cup of ice blocks.
- Pour your cooled-down filter coffee into it.
- Add milk, syrup, and flavor (if you want).
And that’s it. As you can see, this second method takes more time and effort because you’re making the coffee from scratch. But why it’s better than the instant iced coffee method is that you are 100% in control of the taste and quality of your beverage. So, the choice is yours for the making.
In Conclusion
Making your own coffee saves you money and allows you to enjoy as many cups in the taste and flavor you want. Besides, coffee-brewing is an activity that is fun, therapeutic, and eye-opening.
