Step by step Nespresso descaling

August 12, 2023 By Yummiest Food Leave a Comment

Nespresso machine

Every morning, you enjoy a delicious cup of fresh coffee. To always have optimal taste, it is important to clean your Nespresso machine regularly. Additionally, Nespresso descaling regularly is essential for its long lifespan. To descale your Nespresso machine, you need to flush the machine with Excellente rapid descaler. Mix the descaler with water in the water reservoir and press the coffee buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. After descaling, rinse the coffee machine with clean water. Below is a simple and detailed step-by-step guide on how to descale your Nespresso machine at home. You will also find a list of suitable cleaning agents. Not every agent is equally suitable, so make use of all the information to ensure your machine lasts as long as possible.

Requirements

To effectively descale your Nespresso machine, you will need a rapid descaler, a collection container with a minimum capacity of 1 liter, and allocate an estimated time of 10 minutes. Using the rapid descaler in combination with the appropriate container size and allowing the recommended time ensures thorough cleaning and optimal maintenance of your Nespresso machine.

Turn on the machine and prepare for cleaning

Remove the used capsule from the machine by lifting the lever to allow the capsule to fall through. Discard the bin with empty capsules and clean the drip tray by washing it. Let the machine heat up in the meantime.

Clean the drip tray

To clean the drip tray of your Nespresso machine, begin by filling the water reservoir with a mixture of Excellente rapid descaler and water. It is important to avoid exceeding the maximum level of the reservoir. To achieve the best results, add the cleaning agent (100ml) to the reservoir first, and then fill it up with water until it reaches the maximum level. This ensures the proper concentration of the descaling solution, helping to effectively remove any buildup and maintain the performance of your Nespresso machine.

Place a container or bin

When descaling your Nespresso machine, make sure to place a container or bin with a minimum capacity of 1 liter under the coffee outlet. It is essential that the container is sufficiently large to collect all the water and cleaning solution during the descaling process.

Start the descaling program

Depending on your machine model, press the lungo and espresso buttons together, or all three coffee buttons simultaneously for three seconds until they start blinking. Then, press any button or close the slide (if open) to start the descaling process. Let all the cleaning solution pass through; the machine will stop automatically.

Empty the collection container into the water reservoir

Pour the water and cleaning solution you collected back into the reservoir of your Nespresso machine. Place the collection container under the coffee outlet again. Repeat the descaling process by pressing any button.

Flush the Nespresso machine

Discard the water with a descaler and rinse the reservoir thoroughly with clean water. Fill it with clean water without any cleaning agent and flush the machine. Repeat until there is no residual taste of the descaler, and then end the descaling program. By following these steps, you can effectively descale your Nespresso machine and ensure it continues to provide you with delicious coffee every morning. Remember to refer to the instruction manual of your specific Nespresso machine model for any additional guidance.
