Peach brandy is a classic, fragrant, and flavorful homemade alcoholic beverage that has been enjoyed for centuries. To make peach brandy, you’ll need:

  • 4 pounds fresh peaches (ripe and juicy)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 6 cups filtered water
  • 1 large glass jar or fermenting container (preferably with an airlock)

Preparation Steps1. Prepare the Peaches

  • Wash the peaches thoroughly and pat them dry.
  • Remove the pits and cut the peaches into small chunks.
  • Mash the peach chunks lightly to release their juices.

  • In the large glass jar or fermenting container, layer the mashed peaches and sugar.
  • Dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  • Pour the yeast mixture into the jar and add the remaining water.

  • Cover the jar with a lid fitted with an airlock or a clean cheesecloth secured with a rubber band. This will allow gases to escape while keeping contaminants out.
  • Place the jar in a cool, dark area with a consistent temperature (around 65°F to 75°F) to ferment.
  • Stir the mixture daily for the first week to ensure proper fermentation.

  • After 3 to 4 weeks, the fermentation process should be complete. You’ll notice fewer bubbles and a stronger brandy aroma.
  • Strain the liquid through a fine mesh or cheesecloth to separate the solids from the liquid.
  • Transfer the strained liquid into clean bottles and seal tightly.
  • Allow the brandy to age for at least 1 month for a smoother flavor. The longer you age it, the better the taste.
