Most of us get a craving for something sweet from time to time, right? Well, while making a strawberry Oreo cheesecake bar or baking a cake appeals, you can go one step further with a showstopper dessert containing your favorite candies. Producing your very own sweet platter isn’t as easy as it sounds, though, with lots of options deserving of a place on your tray of treats.
A sweet platter isn’t the most common dessert option around, and it certainly represents something a little different, especially if you’re planning on binge-watching a Netflix show or essentially not moving for an entire afternoon. This no-fail dessert can contain the things you love, too. While the type of sweets in the Sweet Bonanza casino game will appeal to many, there are essentially no real rules on how creative you can get with this sweet-filled dish. Some people even add fruit, for example, while others might throw in some leftover cake from a day or two before. Ultimately, it’s your platter, so you can add whatever you want to it. There are some tips to keep in mind, though.
Platter board options
While many of us own large plates or bowls, not everyone has a giant platter that is capable of housing a selection of naughty offerings. You can get creative, though. For example, people have been known to use a breadboard or a chopping board for a platter. A baking sheet or a baking tray might do the job, too. Essentially, you want something that will hold everything firmly in place and enable you to pre-assemble it all before diving in. Preparation is also vitally important with this particular platter, especially when it comes to making sure that everyone who will be enjoying it has something for them.
What should I put on my platter?
While there are no real rules regarding a sweet platter, there are some go-to options that seem to go down well. For example, small chocolates and sweets are always popular, with the likes of Jelly Beans and M&M’s being prominent. Other options include the likes of cookies, biscuits, cakes, fresh fruit, dried fruit, cheese and crackers, pastries, and a whole lot more. If you want to make space for your favorite treat, then feel free to do so. As stated, there are no strict rules regarding this particular platter.
Presentation is key
Given that there’s very little to no cooking or baking involved, presentation should be a priority when putting together your very own sweet platter. For something that is essentially basic to prepare, it’s important that you go all-out with your presentation. For example, if you’re incorporating fruit onto your platter, then consider leaving it in its natural state as much as you can, be it on the vine or as a whole fruit. Additionally, fruits like apples and pears can be dipped in fresh water or lemon juice to keep them looking nice and fresh. Always be sure to leave any wrapped chocolates or sweets inside their wrappers, too. Not only does this make for an even better picture once you’re done making the platter, but it provides guests with even more excitement once they’re aware of the array of much-loved treats you’ve managed to house in one place. Don’t leave any spaces on the board, either.
Utensils might be needed
This is probably dependent on the individual, but not everyone enjoys picking fruit and having to hold a melting chocolate in their hands. In order to make things a tad easier, consider adding some handy utensils, be it disposable cocktail forks or some toothpicks.
